  • Overview – Sun and Bike Opatija Cruise Croatia 2023

Route: Opatija, Vrbnik, Krk, Rab, Pag, Molat or Ilovik, Lošinj, Cres, Opatija

8 Days cruise with departures in through 2023:
From only EUR 500 per person

This spectacular guided Sun and Bike Opatija Cruise in Croatia sails around Kvarner Bay, from Opatija to Opatija, via Krk Island and Cres, exploring amazing coastlines, medieval towns, old villages and picturesque bays. Enjoy private en-suite accommodation on Traditional Wooden ships for a great value vacation. Highlights include visiting great beaches, vineyards, pine woods, cycling on the historic islands and exploring historical coastal towns and stunning hilltop views. Croatia is a land of picturesque islands, rich history, Mediterranean vegetation and mild climate and the best way to explore it is, without doubt, by bicycle.

On our Sun and Bike Opatija Cruise in Croatia, during our cycling trips, we recommend stops at local restaurants where you can sample the local specialties. These meals are not included in the price of the trip and are paid by guests individually at the restaurant.  This is a more leisurely tour, which allows time to enjoy the local cuisine! There is a possibility to book the Captain’s dinner, which is paid locally.

    Bicycle Rental

Bicycle rental includes bicycle equipped with bottle holder, bag carrier, small bag, cycle lock & helmet. See notes for more details.

    Cycling Route

The length of the daily cycling routes is estimated and is based on local information and depends of various detours or short cuts that can be done en route. Sailing and cycling routes may be changed on the spot due to weather conditions and ability of the respective cyclists on board. Departure is during morning hours, mostly after breakfast.

    Bicycles

You are welcome to bring your own bicycle for this tour.
Bicycle rental is possible on request. E-bikes are also available, but limited.
Select-A-Cruise is not responsible for any damage which may occur to personal bicycles during tours and transportation from land to the ship and vice versa.
Repair kit for personal bicycles is obligatory.

Our commitment to making a small contribution:
Accepting the challenge to make a small step – if you are old enough to remember the sentence “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” then it is our turn to make one small step:
    – All our ships (more than 60 in the fleet) now have unlimited water from water fountains instead of water provided in single use plastic bottles.
    – We make sure there are more than enough glass or reusable plastic glasses for those guests who forgot to bring their own water bottle.
    – We no longer use plastic straws!

    – Instead of four course meals, to cut down food waste, we have decided to serve three courses and the fourth to be presented buffet style as a salad & cheese bar on our Deluxe and Deluxe Superior vessels.

We are trying to make that one small step and we would like to encourage all our guests to join us and make one too.

Ride past the dry-stone walls and flocks of sheep to the largest field on the island – Vrbnik’s field with its famous golden-yellow wine Žlahtina. Have a rest in Vrbnik with an optional tasting of wine, cheese and prosciutto. Continue to the saddle Treskavac with the wonderful view of Punat valley and the small island of Košljun with a Franciscan monastery dating from the 12th century. Downhill through Bašćanska Draga to Baška, by the sculptures of Glagolitic letters. Dinner on board.  Remark: In case of bad weather conditions (bura wind), end of the tour and overnight in Krk.

After a short crossing to the island of Pag, we start a bike tour along the island’s beautiful moon-like landscape. The first stop is the village of Lun with thousand years old olive trees and many stone walls. Be careful when cycling on this island due to the many wandering sheep. The island is famous for its Pag cheese. We highly recommend a break in a traditional ‘konoba’ tavern to taste the cheese. In the idyllic village of Mandre, we return to the ship and have lunch on board. We continue our cruise to the island of Ilovik, an island full of flowers, where we have the opportunity to walk, swim and relax. Optional Captain’s dinner onboard tonight.
