  • About Luxury MS Volga Dream

    The 5 star MS Volga Dream entered service during the spring of 2007 after a comprehensive two-year renovation. This elegant vessel is designed in classic decor with a slight Russian touch and accommodates just 100 passengers. She is the best choice for travellers seeking an intimate cruise experience and attentive, personalised service.

    Stateroom / Suite

    50 staterooms are located over four decks and range from Standard Cabins to Deluxe Staterooms. On the upper Promenade and Sun Decks, are the spacious Junior Suites and luxurious forward looking Owner’s Suite, which has a private terrace and separate exit to the open deck.

    All cabins are equipped with private bathroom with shower, individually controlled air-conditioning and heating, direct dial telephone, satellite flat screen television and minibar. Additional comforts provided include bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer, bathroom accessories kit, bottled water (replenished daily) and welcome fruit basket.

    Relaxation

    Located over three decks, the onboard facilities include a delightful restaurant which accommodates all guests in one sitting.  The lounge is a pleasant space for relaxation with large panoramic windows and bar area.

    On the large, spacious Sun deck you will find comfortable deck furniture. There is also a library which also has board games, an outside bar with comfortable deck furniture, fitness centre and sauna. Satellite Internet is available throughout the ship via the Wi-Fi connection.

    Dining

    The single sitting dining room offers the best of traditional Russian cuisine and international choices, accompanied by complimentary wine and soft drinks.

    Every day a delightful buffet lunch or set menu choice is served in the restaurant. Dinner is a served four or five course meal. Onboard there is also a luxurious lounge and bar where a pianist plays each evening and afternoon tea is served each day.

    Life Aboard

    The MS Volga Dream has plenty to keep you occupied between trips ashore. A diverse range of onboard activities include cooking demonstrations, Russian language lessons, documentary films, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov piano concerts, matrioshka painting classes and Russian costumed dinner with vodka tasting.

    Our special pride are the speakers who are genuinely connected to Russia by their present professional interest. You will learn about Russia’s modern history, lifestyle, education and employment and will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and receive comprehensive answers.

    The vessel is non-smoking throughout the interior and cabins and public areas. There is one designated area for smoking – on the Sun Deck by the Ladoga Bar;

    • We will respond by email with confirmation of your tour.
    • Upon confirmation we will collect the non-refundable deposit of  20% of the tour price from the credit card provided.
    • The balance payment will be collected 10 weeks prior to departure date on the Russia River Cruise.
    • If you book within 10 weeks of departure date we will collect the full amount due from the credit card provided.
    • Cabin numbers are advised 7 days prior to arrival. €50 fee to pre-book a specific cabin number.
    • If your selected date is not available we will offer you an alternative.
    • Your card will not be charged until you accept the alternative offered.

    • We will request your passport details for the visa support documentation required to apply for a
      Russian visa (please check with your nearest Consulate if you require a visa).

      Day 1. MOSCOW

      On arriving in Moscow, transfer to your 5 star Hotel in the historic city centre near the Bolshoi Theatre and Moscow Kremlin. Check in for 3 nights.
      Enjoy a welcome meeting with your guide and meet your fellow guests (in the hotel lobby from 6 to 9pm).

      Day 2. MOSCOW

      City Tour / Novodevichy Cemetery 09:30 – 14:30

      Begin the day with an orientation tour of the city before proceeding to the famous Novodevichy Cemetery, where numerous well-known Russian authors, musicians, playwrights, and poets, are buried along with famous actors, political leaders and scientists.
      Take the rest of the afternoon at your leisure, explore Moscow on your own or seek out a cultural performance at one of the city‘s word-class venues.
      City tour includes: Tverskaya Street, Lubyanka Square, Kremlin embankment, Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (entrance if time and availability allows), Novodevichy Cemetery (entrance).

      Day 3. MOSCOW

      Kremlin / Armoury Museum / Red Square / GUM Department Store 09:30 – 14:30

      This morning we take you into the Kremlin to visit the Armoury Museum and its renowned collection of opulent coronation finery, hand-forged armour and weapons, royal carriages and sleighs. Continue to the beautifully frescoed 15th-century Assumption and Archangel Cathedrals. Next is the magnificent Red Square and its famous landmarks – Lenin’s Tomb and St. Basil’s cathedral (outside), a colourful multi-domed complex whose architects were supposedly blinded by Ivan the Terrible so that they would never again be able to recreate such splendour.
      The rest of the day is left open for independent exploration: for example you may walk to the new park Zaryadye located near the Kremlin and Red Square or choose any one of several optional tours.
      Today‘s tour includes: the Kremlin, visit to Assumption and Archangel Cathedrals, the Armoury (visit), Red Square walking tour, St. Basil’s Cathedral (photo stop no entrance), GUM Department Store (entrance).

      Day 4. MOSCOW

      Tretyakov Gallery / Metro Ride / Embarkation on the Volga Dream 13:00 – 18:00

      This morning is free for you to walk at leisure before enjoying lunch in the hotel or near-by.
      Hotel check-out is at noon, followed by a trip to the Tretyakov Gallery, the first museum dedicated exclusively to Russian fine art. We explore Moscow‘s Metro, famed for its architectural splendour. Later, transfer to the luxury that waits aboard MS Volga Dream before sailing Russia‘s extensive waterways. The Captain’s welcome reception and dinner mark the start of our unforgettable cruise.

      Day 5. UGLICH

      After a full day of cruising through idyllic forested countryside, we arrive to the ancient trading town of Uglich, a key point in Russia‘s renowned ‘Golden Ring‘. Explore the impressive Church of St. Dmitri-on-the-Blood, built on the site where Dmitri, son of Ivan the Terrible, was murdered in 1591. Then an enchanting concert of choral music performed in St. John‘s Church.

      Day 6. YAROSLAVL

      Founded in 1010, Yaroslavl is one of central Russia‘s oldest cities and boasts the Volga‘s first port. There is so much to see: the Spassky Monastery houses the Transfiguration of the Saviour and the Church of Elijah the Prophet with its impressive collection of mosaics. Take part in a costumed reception at the governor‘s house before re-boarding the MS Volga Dream in time for lunch.

      Day 7. GORITSY

      In this tiny settlement, we visit the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, founded in 1397, now home to one of the world‘s finest collections of Russian icons. After a guided tour, we continue cruising toward the majestic Lake Onega.

      Day 8. KIZHI

      Kareliya is a region that must be seen to be believed, it spans all the way from St. Petersburg to the Arctic Circle, a vast wilderness of forest and water. Lake Onega is fed by 58 rivers and is home to 1,369 islands, including our stop, Kizhi with its quaint collection of ancient wooden houses and windmills including the famous and remarkable Transfiguration church, built in 1714 without a single nail being used.

      Kareliya is a region that must be seen to be believed, it spans all the way from St. Petersburg to the Arctic Circle, a vast wilderness of forest and water. Lake Onega is fed by 58 rivers and is home to 1,369 islands, including our stop, Kizhi with its quaint collection of ancient wooden houses and windmills including the famous and remarkable Transfiguration church, built in 1714 without a single nail being used.

      Day 7. GORITSY

      This morning takes us on an early crossing of Lake Beloye, or the White Lake, once known as the ―tsar‘s fishing grounds‖, before arriving in the peaceful village of Goritsy where we tour the Ferapontov Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with magnificent frescoes by Dionysius, one of Russia‘s most renowned icon painters. He painted the temple ceiling about 10 years before Michelangelo even started on the Sistine Chapel! Return to the ship for a late lunch and afternoon cruising.

      costumed reception at the governor‘s house before re-boarding the MS Volga Dream in time for lunch.

      After a full day of cruising through idyllic forested countryside, we tie up in the ancient trading town of Uglich, a key point in Russia‘s renowned ‗Golden Ring‘. Then an enchanting concert of choral music performed in St. John‘s Church.

      This morning we take you into the Kremlin to visit the Armoury Museum and its renowned collection of opulent coronation finery, hand-forged armour and weapons, royal carriages and sleighs. Continue to the beautifully frescoed 15th-century Assumption and Archangel Cathedrals. Next is the magnificent Red Square and its famous landmarks – Lenin’s Tomb and St. Basil’s cathedral (outside), a colourful multi-domed complex whose architects were supposedly blinded by Ivan the Terrible so that they would never again be able to recreate such splendour.
      The rest of the day is left open for independent exploration: for example you may walk to the new park Zaryadye located near the Kremlin and Red Square or choose any one of several optional tours.

The day ends with a tour of Yusupov‟s Palace, former home to one of St. Petersburg‟s wealthiest aristocrats. The enigmatic story of Grigory Rasputin, the monk assassinated here by Prince Felix Yusupov, is told in this very basement.

      Enjoy a full sightseeing day with a visit to the Fabergé Museum, founded by entrepreneur, Viktor Vekselberg. The museum was opened in December 2013 to display a glittering collection of Faberge eggs and objects d‟art created by Peter Carl Fabergé and his craftsmen. Vekselberg’s collection is rated as one of the world’s most valuable and includes items he bought from the Forbes family in 2004 for $100 million.
      After lunch we travel to the Tsar‟s Village to visit the famous Catherine‟s Palace and the exquisitely recreated Amber Room. A stroll through the formal gardens is highly recommended.       Day 4. ST. PETERSBURG

      Faberge Museum / Catherine’s Palace / Amber Room 09:30 – 18:30

      Enjoy a full sightseeing day with a visit to the Fabergé Museum, founded by entrepreneur, Viktor Vekselberg. The museum was opened in December 2013 to display a glittering collection of Faberge eggs and objects d‟art created by Peter Carl Fabergé and his craftsmen. Vekselberg’s collection is rated as one of the world’s most valuable and includes items he bought from the Forbes family in 2004 for $100 million.
      After lunch we travel to the Tsar‟s Village to visit the famous Catherine‟s Palace and the exquisitely recreated Amber Room. A stroll through the formal gardens is highly recommended. We enter the Pushkin grounds through the Golden Gate and ascend the staircase to the Grand Hall. The Golden Enfilade offers a glorious view of the Amber Room.
      Meanwhile, the luxurious MS Volga Dream awaits, your voyage along Russia‟s extensive waterways is about to begin. The Captain’s welcome reception and dinner mark the start of our unforgettable cruise.

      Day 5. SVIRSTROY

      The highlight of your day in Svirstroy is being invited into a local resident‟s home. Warm and welcoming villagers will offer tea with jam and “pirozhki” (local pies). They will enthusiastically tell you all about Russian tradition, lifestyle and the attractions of Svirstroy village while proudly showing off their homes and kitchen gardens. After tea, hop on a bus to tour the nearby town, see a spectacular WWII memorial and visit a local primary school.

      Day 6. KIZHI

      Kareliya is a region that must be seen to be believed, it spans all the way from St. Petersburg to the Arctic Circle, a vast wilderness of forest and water. Lake Onega is fed by 58 rivers and is
      home to 1,369 islands, including our stop, Kizhi with its quaint collection of ancient wooden houses and windmills including the famous and remarkable Transfiguration church, built in 1714 without a single nail being used.

      Day 7. GORITSY

      This morning takes us on an early crossing of Lake Beloye, or the White Lake, once known as the “tsar‟s fishing grounds”, before arriving in the peaceful village of Goritsy where we tour the Ferapontov Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with magnificent frescoes by Dionysius, one of Russia‟s most renowned icon painters. He painted the temple ceiling about 10 years before Michelangelo even started on the Sistine Chapel! Return to the ship for a late lunch and afternoon cruising.

      Day 8. YAROSLAVL

      Founded in 1010, Yaroslavl is one of central Russia‟s oldest cities and boasts the Volga‟s first port. There is much to see: the Spassky Monastery houses the Transfiguration of the Saviour and the Church of Elijah the Prophet and an impressive collection of mosaics. Take part in a costumed reception at the governor‟s house before re-boarding the MS Volga Dream in time for lunch.

      Day 9. UGLICH

      After a full day of cruising through idyllic forested countryside, we tie up in the ancient trading town of Uglich, a key point in Russia‟s renowned „Golden Ring‟. Explore the impressive Church of St. Dmitri-on-the-Blood, erected on the site where Dmitri, son of Ivan the Terrible, was murdered in 1591. Then an enchanting concert of choral music performed in St. John‟s Church.

      Day 10. MOSCOW

      City tour / Sparrow Hills / Lunch in the Moscow City / Novodevichy Cemetery 12:00 – 18:00
      The MS Volga Dream arrives in Moscow where we disembark and start with an orientation tour of Moscow. The city boasts unique diversity and variety in terms of building styles: classic, modern, empire and eclecticism amazingly sit alongside more monumental designs, such as Stalin‟s towering skyscrapers from the mid 20th century. The architecture of the capital, though seemingly contradictory and contrasting, makes for a dazzling combination in a quite unique city.
      Lunch is served in a restaurant on the top-floor of one of Moscow‟s skyscrapers offering spectacular city views. After lunch, visit the famous Novodevichi Cemetery, where well-known Russian authors, musicians, playwrights, and poets, are buried along with famous actors, political leaders, and scientists.
      We check in to our 5 star Hotel for 3 nights.
      City tour highlights: Tverskaya Street, Lubyanka Square, Kremlin embankment. Novodevichiy Convent (photo stop), and if time permits, a stop at the Christ the Saviour Cathedral, Sparrow Hills.

      Day 11. MOSCOW

      Kremlin / Armory Museum / Red Square Walk / St. Basil’s Cathedral / GUM Department Store / Park Zaryadye 09:30 – 17:30

      This morning consists of a stroll through the famous Moscow Kremlin with its beautiful cathedrals and unique museums. The Armoury hosts an impressive collection of opulent coronation finery, hand-forged armor and ancient weapons, royal carriages and sleighs.
      After lunch, cross Red Square to visit GUM, Moscow‟s largest department store, and enter a masterpiece of medieval Moscow – St. Basil‟s Cathedral. Then proceed with a leisurely walk through the newly designed park Zaryadye, a stone‟s throw from the Kremlin and Red Square.

      Day 12. MOSCOW

      Leo Tolstoy House-Museum in Hamovniki / Old Tretyakov Gallery / Moscow Metro 10:00 – 18:00

      The first stop after checking-out of your hotel is the small former home-estate once owned by one of Russia‟s literary greats, Leo Tolstoy. He lived with his wife and thirteen children in this two-storey wooden Moscow house from 1882 to 1901; it is now a carefully preserved memorial.
      The sightseeing continues after lunch at the State Tretyakov Gallery with its extraordinary collection of Russian art, ranging from Rublev’s 12th century icons to 19th century masterpieces. Explore Moscow‟s Metro, famed for its architectural splendour.
